Applicant Information |
Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in the UW Autism Center's Apex Summer Camp. For summer 2024 we are offering 6-week clinical internships to graduate and undergraduate students focusing on psychology, medicine, education, speech language pathology, occupational therapy, nursing, and related fields.
Apex Summer Camp is a 4-week intensive therapeutic day camp designed specifically for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. The program is based at the University of Washington Autism Center in Seattle.
We offer expert training to graduate and undergraduate students interested in gaining a unique clinical experience working with children with ASD. Supervision is provided by licensed psychologists, board certified behavior analysts, and speech-language pathologists. Undergraduate course credit is also available.
All staff members complete two weeks of intensive training. This includes didactic sessions, direct readings, case-reviews and supervision, and rehearsal and practice of program components. Consulting experts will present on key topics related to autism spectrum disorders and ADHD including etiology, applied behavior analysis, pivotal response treatment, social skills training, data-based evaluation, and principles of autism intervention.
Please complete the following application and upload a current CV and college transcript (unofficial/student transcripts are accepted) where indicated. In addition, one letter of reference is required. Letters of reference should be from professors or supervisors, to whom you are not related, who can attest to your skills in relevant areas. Letters of reference should be sent directly to apex@uw.edu with "Letter of Reference: Firstname Lastname" in the subject line. Please note that this application is three pages. Click "submit" below to progress to the next form.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Staff interviews will begin no earlier than March 2025. As letters take time to coordinate, please submit this application with an attached CV and transcript as soon as possible; letters of reference can be amended to the application when they arrive. Please contact us with any questions at apex@uw.edu or 206-221-CAMP (2267). Thank you for your interest in our program.
Please note: If you are a returning APEX counselor, you do NOT need to send letters of recommendation with your application.
Warmly,
