Welcome to the Montana INBRE Student Travel Award Application
This application is for Montana-based undergraduate and graduate students looking to travel to domestic (US-based) scientific research conferences in order to present their unique biomedical and human-health centered research.
The maximum award amount is $500 for undergraduates and $1000 for graduate students. Additional (matching) funds are required at an amount equal to or greater than the amount being requested from Montana INBRE. Matching funds can come from sources such as your mentor, your graduate school, your academic department or college and/or the conference.
Before you begin this application, make sure that you have already:
Grad Students: identified a domestic scientific conference or event where you will be presenting original research publicly as a poster or oral presentation
Undergraduate Students: been accepted at domestic scientific conference where you will be giving an oral presentation
Written a scientific abstract describing the research you plan to present at the scientific conference/event/meeting
Asked for & received a signed .PDF copy of a letter of support from your project mentor or faculty supervisor. The letter should explain how you will benefit academically and/or professionally from the experience and why this particular travel opportunity is well-suited to your current academic or professional trajectory
PLEASE NOTE : You will not be able to complete this application without the above information, and there is no save/return later option. Please have all of the above completed before you begin.

DEADLINES : Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be batch reviewed at regular intervals, typically on/around Feb. 1, May 15, Sept. 15, and Dec. 1.

Common items on a travel budget might include: economy airfare to nearest airport to conference, ground transportation to/from conference, standard lodging for duration of conference, conference registration fee(s), meal reimbursement for meals not included with the conference at the rate allowed by your institution's per-diem policy, incidentals like poster printing, etc.

Budgets should be complete and address all major anticipated expenses. As such, budgets can and often do exceed INBRE's maximum award amount. That's fine.
